SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY
To ensure the safety of our staff and participants, The Arc of Greater New Orleans will be closed (administrative offices, Supported Employment services, Community Centers, Family Support Coordination offices, and Transportation services) on
Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12.
RSS will have shelter in place from Wednesday to Thursday, or until the Shelter has been lifted. Please refer to the Tropical Preparedness Guide and check with your supervisor for specific departmental instructions.
Prepare your workspaces before leaving today. Keep phones and other devices charged up ahead of time in case of power outages.
- Wednesday’s appreciation gift will be combined with another day.
- Senior Leadership will meet daily to discuss changes and communicate plans.
- Updates will be relayed through email, the phone tree, and posted on our website.

About Us
The Arc of Greater New Orleans (ArcGNO) is a 67-year-old non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the independence and well-being of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and autism. Our staff currently support over 750 individuals throughout Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and St. Tammany parishes.
What we do
FAMILY SUPPORTS COORDINATION
Help families of young children obtain speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES
Assist adults with day-to-day living skills so they can be more independent.
COMMUNITY INTEGRATION
We operate four community centers promoting independence, self-reliance, and self esteem.
EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
We assist with job placement, provide job coaching, and employ individuals with IDD.
PARAGON INDUSTRIES
Through our social enterprises, we employ those with IDD and provide a wage-earning job throughout the year.
TRANSPORTATION
Provides transportation services for jobs, community centers, and social outings.
Donate
With your help we can continue to provide and expand services and support to individuals in need.
Volunteer
Help us advocate for and empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Our purpose is to create, through education, advocacy, and support, a greater New Orleans community that includes, accepts, and celebrates people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
