Transportation
Our Focus
The Arc of Greater New Orleans understands transportation is not just a service — it’s a lifeline. We believe access is the first step to independence.
Most of the individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) whom we support do not drive and have limited access to safe, accessible public transportation.
How We Help
The ArcGNO Transportation Program ensures people with IDD can fully participate in community life. Unlike traditional transportation options, which often cannot accommodate the specific needs of our participants, our program provides reliable, wheelchair- and walker-accessible transportation tailored to individual needs.
Our trained drivers are not only licensed and safety-certified — they are also skilled in supporting individuals with disabilities. They play a key role in helping people get to work, community centers, community outings, and social events – to name a few.
This daily access is vital for the health, independence, and well-being of those we serve. Without this service, many would be isolated from the opportunities and supports that help them thrive.
