About Us
The Arc of Greater New Orleans (ArcGNO) is a 67-year-old non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the independence and well-being of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and autism. Our staff currently support over 600 individuals throughout Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and St. Tammany parishes.
What we do
FAMILY SUPPORTS COORDINATION
Help families of young children obtain speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES
Assist adults with day-to-day living skills so they can be more independent.
COMMUNITY INTEGRATION
We operate five community centers promoting independence, self-reliance, and self esteem.
EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
We assist with job placement, provide job coaching, and employ individuals with IDD.
MARDI GRAS RECYCLE CENTER
We turn beads into jobs by collecting, sorting, and repackaging throws.
TRANSPORTATION
Provides transportation services for jobs, community centers, and social outings.
Donate
With your help we can continue to provide and expand services and support to individuals in need.
Volunteer
Help us advocate for and empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Our purpose is to create, through education, advocacy, and support, a greater New Orleans community that includes, accepts, and celebrates people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
